Most of the albums I have been listening to recently Dan gave to me. Great choices Dan - except for one! I now keep an alphabetic list of what I have listened to and I have just realised that most of these albums begin with F or C. Really strange as I am not working through a list.
Album 153 Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a True Story
This was a total revelation and a really enjoyable album - style of music is varied. Initially I thought that this was just going to be a good reggae band. I was so interested in the name and the music that I googled them - hey 7 piece band from New Zealand. Love it. I will listen to this album lots more.
Album 154 The Fugees - The Score
Another band that I didn't know. I really could not access most of this music. It is hip hop, but the lyrics and whole 'scene' are way outside my experience / cultural norm. If I had not been committed to listening to the full album as part of my 365 album challenge, I would have stopped the album after 5 minutes. I am glad I got to the end because there a two real gems. Their version of 'Killing Me Softly' and 'No Woman No Cry', two of my favourite tracks, really are delightful. DIFFERENT, but delightful.
Album 155 Cheikh Lo - Lamp Fall
Terrific music - no idea what they are singing but I love the sound. This 'world music' is quite new to me and I am so pleased that Dan has me listening to new and interesting things.
Album 156 Cream - Reunion 2005
I haven't listened to Cream for decades. This album was sent to me by a friend - thank you Frank. I listened to it whilst I was running. It was like bumping into an old friend . Spoonful, Sunshine of your Love - fantastic. Brue, Clapton and Baker...........would have loved to have been at that gig! Perhaps I can get to the Liverpool gig in May???
Album 157 Best of Cannonball Adderly
Great jazz album...............love the saxophone.
Album 158 Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Another gem - what a delightful album. Although I had not heard of the band before, several of the tracks were very familiar, particularly 'To build a home'.
Album 159 Chopin Piano Concertos No 1 No2 & Barcarolle
Chopin - lovely album. Calmed me down as I was driving to and from work during a VERY tough week.
Album 160 Jamie Callum Twenty Something
I do not like Jamie Callum's voice at all. It took me three days to get to the end of this album. Standards are great when they are done well. This album won't be played again! Does anybody want it?????
Album 161 Common Sense - Resurrection
A rapper................ the beat is insistent, but the lyrics are really interesting. As I listened I became fascinated by the language that was being used, so I found the lyrics on line. This is very clever - but I still don't understand what it is all about - a million miles from my little world!
