Eclectic Taste? Albums 184-200

Album 184 - Nigel Kennedy   Mendelssohn & Bruch Violin C, Shubert Rondo in A
Wow. I have just bought this album and I love the Bruch Violin Concerto. The Mendelssohn is also fantastic. It has been my car listening for the last week. I was familiar with both pieces but having listened to them so often, I think this is currently my favourite classical album.

Album 185   Uri Caine - Concerto Koln
This album was an unexpected gift and it turned out to be a delight. This album is a jazzy witty version of Beethoven's Diabelli Variation. A good listen.

Album 186   James Taylor - October Road
Lovely music but too associated with a very sad period in life. Sometimes I cannot listen to James Taylor and especially this album.

Album 187    Karine Polwart- This Earthly Spell
Karine Polwart has a great voice - Scottish folk singer. The songs are beautiful and very listenable especially after a long hard day.

Album 188   Bebel Gilberto- Tanto Tempo
This Brazilian singer is just bril. I love the Latin / jazz  / soul feel. In fact having listened to it several times in the last couple of weeks, I think I will buy her most recent album! ......well I am starting to run out of music!

Album 189   Ingra George- All Rise
Another American singer song writer - her voice is a bit 'little girl', although she does remind me a little of Suzanne Vega. Enjoyable album for occasional listening.

Album 190   Jeff Buckley- Grace
Lovely album. I prefer Leonard Cohen's version of Halleluiha. Great songs.

Album 191   Hot Chocolate- Greatest Hits
I think this was left by somebody after a party!!!! One or two tracks that are fun, but it is an album that goes to the bottom of the pile!

Album 192 Jane Siberry - When I was a Boy

Album 193 Bach - Goldberg Variations (Glen Gould Piano)
A very special album which I listen to a lot. I never tire of this music.

Album 194 Runrig - Long Distance
Stuart R introduced me to Runrig and I confess to not being particularly impressed but after having seen them live (great show - with dedicated following!) and listened to the album on many trips to Scotland - I have some fondness for this band which is loud, lively and plays sentimental almost political music.

Album 195 Elgar - Cello Concerto (Jacqueline DuPre)
Classic - wonderful, wonderful music!

Album 196 Bach Cantatas (John Elliot Gardiner)
Another album which I have played many, many times.

Album 197 Neal Casal - Anytime Tomorrow
American singer song writer. Good album, some great songs.

Album 198 Diana Krall - Live In Paris
She sings the standards so well. This great jazz album has songs such as 'Let's Fall In Love', 'The Look of Love' and 'I've Got You under My Skin'.

Album 199  The Watersons - definitive collection
Well great English Folk group. Traditional songs, fingers in the ears, harmony and big jumpers! I used to have several Waterson / Martin Carthy albums and have seen them live lots of times. Certainly need to be in the right mood to listen to this album or it drones on the nerves.

Album 200 Vivaldi  - The Four Seasons (Nigel Kennedy)
This is a lovely piece of music which I first listened to when I was 17 - after listening to Curved Air! This album is quite an old recording - Nigel Kennedy is just amazing. Although it was recorded in 1989 it is a superb recording and another album which I treasure.
