I have been so busy in recent weeks that I haven't had time to write the blog. Some of the albums that I have listened to have been wonderful but others really have become dated or I wonder how they happen to be in the house. Did I really buy Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits????? I remember buying Justin Timberlake and enjoying that and it was good to listen to the album again, but I am not sure that it will be played many more times.
Album 126 -Mark Knopfler / Dire Straits Wag the Dog / Making Movies
Listened to this whilst driving to London. A great album.
Album 127 Fairport Convention - Liege and Leif
This must be one of the most definitive folk rock albums - a classic, well worth revisiting. Sandy Denny's voice is wonderful. I love 'Crazy Man Michael'. In fact I really do like this album - hard not to with Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick.
Album 128 Mozart Piano Sonatas - Vol 4 (No 12, No13, No 14)
Lovely, lovely music. I wish that I could play the piano!
Album 129 Kirsty MacColl - Tropical Brainstorm
I had forgotten about this album and it must have slipped to the bottom of my CD pile. I just love the tracks, Treachery and In these Shoes. Such a fun album. Listened to this a lot during the Easter holidays.
Album 130 Santana - Shaman
Santana is always energetic - some interesting musicians on this album. It includes The Game of Love, which is a good track.
Album 131 Pat Metheny - Mehldau
Always a favourite.
Album 132 James Taylor - Greatest Hits
I must have these songs on several albums. Love it. Listened to it a lot in Alaska, when marriage broke up and at various other emotional times - good and bad.
Album 133 Justin Timberlake - Justified
Album 134 Chris Rea - New Light Through Old Windows
I love this album - lots of favourites including Stainsby Girl!
Album 135 Rodrigo - Concierto de Aranjuez / Fantasia para un gentilhombre
Prior to the London Marathon, Jill. Luke and I went to Tate Modern to see the Miro exhibition. The recorded info which supported the exhibition had wonderful Spanish guitar music in the background. This album and Album 144 are so wonderful. Every time I listen to them I want to go walking in Spain. Perhaps next year a Spanish walking holiday!!!
Album 136 Mariah Carey - Greatest Hits
This is a double album..........................I could only manage the first album! Did I really buy this?
Album 137 Jack Johnson - Curious George
Fab......................one of my fav singers. I just love the laid back music. Very clever.
Album 138 Diana Krall - Love Scenes
Amazing voice. Great songs.
Album 139 Beth Orton - Comfort of Strangers
Any album which starts with a song about worms has to be wacky. I am sure lots of people won’t like this album, but I think that it is a lovely album.
Album 140 Shakti - The Believer
This is a beautiful album which is a mix of Indian music and Jazz. We listened to this in late 70s. So long ago! I am really pleased that I have found it again.
Album 141 Chopin - Polonaise in F, Nocturne in D, Fantasy in F, Sonata No 3
Delightful.
Album 142 Miles Davis - A Retrospective
This album starts with My Funny Valentine - one the tunes that I used to love listening to Stuart play. Great album. It is a very old recording. Herbie Hancock is on some tracks.
Album 143 The Beatles - White Album
How many times have I listened to this album? Favourite track is 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
Album 144 Rodrigo Tres Piezas Espanolas, Sonata Giocosa, Por los Campos de Espana, Tonadilla
Album 145 Rod Stuart - The very best of!!!
Two discs. It includes classics such as 'Maggie May' and a great duet with Tina Turner 'It Takes Two'. Good for singing along to.
Album 146 Jeff Buckley - Grace
I think this album must belong to Luke. I had heard of Jeff Buckley and know his version of Hallelujah (like but Cohen gets my vote!) but this album is new to me, What a pity that he died so tragically.
Album 147 Orchestra Baobab
Daniel sent me this and I am very grateful as it is totally new to me. I think that it is Afro- Caribbean Fusion, but it is definately feel good and great play very loudly!
